Used laptops to benefit hundreds of local children in need

The Manatee School for the Arts donated 963 laptops to children in need through the Children’s Guardian Fund and Take Stock in Children Manatee.

A team of volunteers with the Sarasota Technology User’s Group (STUG) will diligently wipe each hard drive as a primary step to refurbishing the computers.  The laptops will then be loaded with software, including Microsoft Office Suite, under a free license from Microsoft Corporation.  Underserved children can then use the computers for school work, allowing for connectivity which is critical today.

If you need to dispose of a used laptop or desktop safely, contact Mark Sharff about donating your used device to STUG.  Mark can be reached at (941) 374-1107 or by email at msharff@gmail.com
