LBK Rotary brings literacy & nutrition to 114 children

To promote Literacy in Rotary District 6960 the Rotary Club of Longboat Key and the Children’s Guardian Fund teamed up to coordinate a drive-through event to distribute food and normalcy to 114 local children who have been temporarily placed with relative and non-relative caregivers.

Guardian ad Litem volunteers picked up more than 280 books; three nutritious recipes with all the ingredients and supplies needed to make Banana Balls; Baked Apples and Hot Dog Mummies in festive autumnal bags.

In addition, each child received a bag with toys, pumpkins, and games from the Sarasota Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta; a family puzzle from the Junior League of Sarasota; a stuffed stress relief pumpkin created by community volunteers in the River Wilderness community and a $10 Goodwill gift card from CGF.
