$10,000 donated for back-to-school shopping by anonymous donor

Children’s Guardian Fund received $10,000 to support the Back-to-school Shopping Pilot Program. The program was designed to support families in the community who are taking care of children in the foster care system as relative or non-relative caregivers. Caregivers who are not registered as licensed foster parents receive less support from the state and often struggle to provide for the many needs of the children who have been temporarily placed in their home by the state.

The $10,000 donation came just in time for the huge influx of requests. Within 10 days of launching the program, the organization funded over 100 back-to-school requests totaling over $20,000. Children’s Guardian Fund is anticipating 150 more requests before the program closes for the season.

“My intent is to make sure that children have what they need to start off the school year,” said the donor who has requested to remain anonymous. “Every child deserves to feel equal on the first day of school.”

The Children’s Guardian Fund (CGF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that immediately responds to the needs of children removed from abusive or neglectful homes.  Through the funding of donations, we are able to provide emergency essentials and on-going support for the needs of children in our community that otherwise would be unavailable.
