Summer Book Blitz

The inaugural Summer Book Blitz was a collaborative effort to support literacy over the summer.  Over 700 books were purchased and distributed to 95 local foster children receiving tutoring in reading during summer vacation.

Volunteers from the Pi Beta Phi Sarasota-Manatee Alumnae Group gathered on June 22nd on The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center campus to help pack books that were hand selected to match each child’s reading level and interests.

Each child also received a Goodwill gift card and a colorful tote bag to hold the books.
