2023 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

On Friday, May 5, 2023, we celebrated the life-saving work of our local volunteer child advocates.

Judge Andrea McHugh spoke about the value volunteers bring when they give a voice to the children in court.  She applauded the volunteers for saying “Send me” in the face of the many challenges and obstacles that volunteer work entails and reminded them that their voice is heard and valued by the court.

Guardian ad Litem Office staff nominated volunteers who had gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the lives of children thrown into a complicated system, ensuring they do not fall through the cracks.  Each award recipient received a certificate and gas card to thank them for their dedication.

The 140+ guests all received a small heart to take home as a reminder that their work may not make the news, but it is life-changing and means the world to the children whose hearts they hold.  And thanks to the generosity of Nothing Bundt Cakes, guests also got to take home an individual cake to thank them for being our partner in helping our local children celebrate their birthdays for nearly 28 years!
