Emily K. Garriott is an Associate Attorney with Syprett Meshad and she is admitted to practice in the State of Florida. Being born and raised in Sarasota, Ms. Garriott has a strong commitment to the community and chose to return upon graduation from law school.
In 2015, Ms. Garriott was awarded her Juris Doctorate degree, graduating cum laude from University of Florida Levin College of Law. In law school, Ms. Garriott was the recipient of two book awards for achieving the top grade in the classes of Florida Criminal Procedure and Interviewing, Counseling, & Negotiation. Ms. Garriott was a member of the Student Recruitment Team, the Treasurer of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and was awarded a Community Service Certificate and a Pro Bono Certificate for her pro bono legal work while in law school.Prior to law school, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Family, Youth, and Community Science from the University of Florida, where she graduated cum laude.
Prior to joining Syprett Meshad, Ms. Garriott was an Assistant State Attorney in the 12th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, where she represented the State of Florida in the criminal prosecution of Defendants. During her employment at the State Attorney’s Office she conducted jury trials and all other stages of criminal prosecution.
Ms. Garriott is actively involved in the Sarasota Community. She is a member of the Junior League of Sarasota and currently serves as a co-chair of the Junior League of Sarasota’s State and Public Affairs Committee (SPAC). She is also involved in the John M. Scheb Inn of Court and the Sarasota County Bar Association.
