We are hiring a part-time Program Assistant

OVERVIEW

Children’s Guardian Fund (CGF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to meeting the emergency and ongoing needs of children and youth in foster or state care. This part-time position — ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field — offers hands-on exposure to program operations, data management, community partnerships, and organizational processes in a supportive, mentorship-oriented environment.

This is a paid, part-time role offering 15–25 hours per week at a market-rate hourly wage, with scheduling flexibility designed to accommodate academic commitments.

  • Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for special events upon advance notic

What You’ll Do

As a Programs Assistant, you’ll work directly with CGF’s Program Director to support the day-to-day operations of our programs. Responsibilities include:

Program Operations

  • Help process and track funding requests, ensuring accuracy and flagging items needing follow-up
  • Assist with data entry, database maintenance, and generating routine program reports
  • Support coordination of the tutoring program, including intake tracking and compliance documentation
  • Assist in preparing materials for grant reporting and funder updates

Communications & Coordination

  • Manage incoming communications and help route inquiries to the appropriate team members
  • Coordinate scheduling for meetings, volunteer sessions, and community events
  • Support special events such as holiday gift distribution and partner resource sessions

Learning & Engagement

  • Build working knowledge of CGF’s partner agencies, community resources, and the child welfare system
  • Participate in team discussions and contribute ideas to program improvement efforts
  • Represent CGF professionally in interactions with agency partners and community members

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program, preferably in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — you notice when something doesn’t add up
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfort learning new tools and databases
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks independently and ask for help when needed
  • Genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of foster children
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
