One hundred years from now...
it will not matter
what your bank account was,
the sort of house you lived in,
or the kind of car you drove,
but the world may be different
because you were important
in the life of a CHILD.

Many people spend their lives striving to make an impact through success in business, sports or personal achievement.  I have found that making a difference in someone else’s life, especially a child in need, is impact that really matters...It can truly change the course of a child’s future and of those around them for generations to come.

After much effort, I am so happy these three precious siblings have found their "forever family".

… I love my work as a GAL. It can be sad and frustrating at times, and it can also be very rewarding when you see the results of the advocacy we do for our children in difficult situations. We look at the bigger picture and involve the family, schools, and many community resources to help our children return to a safer and stable path.
~ Gina K.

I know I have helped all of the children on my cases over the last four years. Honestly though, if anything I have benefited more than they have from my involvement with them. It gives me the opportunity to give back to my world in a little way.
~ Dale O.

It is often said that children are our future, and we have a wonderful opportunity to actually improve that future as we advocate for the children in our care.
~ Bob M.

There are many rewarding cases, but these are the two that come to mind.  In one, a doctor’s examination determined that the baby had a skull fracture and two crushed ribs from earlier injuries. The fact that the child wasn’t safe was indisputable. In another case, in his new placement, the child is maintaining an A average at a school for gifted children.
~ Elliott G.

I cannot exaggerate the thrill of seeing a case through to a happy conclusion, such as adoption or a reuniting with birth parents after they successfully work through a case plan. I am almost 85 years old, and I have finally found the most rewarding, frustrating and fulfilling vocation of my life. I am a Guardian ad Litem—that is who I am.
~ Bill B.

These children are in such need and are so grateful to have a guardian ...a person looking out for them ...a voice in the courts.

This $5,000 grant will be used to send 19 to 20 abused, neglected, or abandoned children who are in the GAL program in the 12th Judicial Circuit and who reside in Manatee County to a week of day camp in Manatee County.

I enjoy being a
Guardian ad Litem because I believe that my helping hand will benefit a few children that need help today
to become better citizens of tomorrow.
