Florida’s 12th Judicial Circuit comprises DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties. Within this circuit, there are currently (June 30, 2009)
441 Guardians ad Litem
serving 920 children.
GAL volunteers are the biggest single factor in making a difference in the lives of abused, abandoned and neglected children.
Imagine all that the children in state custody have at stake when they are removed from their homes for the sake of their own safety, and the staggering future cost to our community if they do not receive the help they need now.
In the past year we have reached our goal of 100% representation for the children of our judicial circuit. The Florida state average is 40%.
