An educator for more than two decades, Nancy Sanders was one of Florida’s first National Board Certified Teachers.  In Sarasota County, she taught at Pine View and in Booker High’s Law Academy.  She imagined, created and served as founding principal for two middle schools (one charter/one private).  While teaching, Nancy wrote the weekly column “School…by the Book” for the Sarasota Herald Tribune and was the founding publisher and editor of PARK PRESS, a monthly free newspaper distributed in Sarasota County.

Nancy received a BA degree with honors (history/political science) from Bellarmine College and completed graduate work at the University of Louisville’s School of Law and Department of Political Science.  She also completed graduate work at USF’s School of Education and School of Government/International Affairs where she was named their Bellamy Constitutional Scholar.

Nancy believes strongly in volunteerism and is currently a Guardian ad Litem.  Recently, she served as a reader/evaluator of grant applications submitted to Florida’s Department of Cultural Affairs and successfully wrote grant applications for nonprofits submitted to that same organization.  Nancy has been a member of the Junior League since 1979.
